Trailer Trash

TODAY'S STRIP
The little girl has stopped dancing on the soon-to-be-dug grave of Sandra Day O'Connor's gravely ill husband. Instead Carmen, obviously a big fan of that devil book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," today tries to do her own philosophizing.

It turns out that O'Connor wasn't the hard-right conservative that Reagan thought she would be (primarily on social issues, and we all know how much the con-artists - I'm sorry, "conservatives" - love those). Carmen's reaction: "You can respect the trailblazer, without respecting all of their trails."

And Winslow points out that she's making "no dang sense."

The coyote's right of course. How can you respect a trail? Do you place candles at the entrance and kneel to its greatness? Do you bow your head as you walk on it? Hold the door for it when you go into a fancy French bistro (that one's for liberals only)?

I know, I'm just being silly. What Carmen meant to say was, "That stupid bitch was supposed to make America one big red state and instead she *gasp* followed the law instead of letting politics get in the way. I hate her, but now that she's gone we can replace her with a REAL American. Probably a guy who loves to torture people."

Unfortunately there was one time that O'Connor did let politics get in the way - and that was in 2000, when she rubber-stamped Bush's appointment to the Presidency. And for that, she'll always be a conservative in my book.
