It Tastes Like Burning
TODAY'S STRIP
Over the years I've learned that for a story to work, the villain needs to at least be the equal of the hero. What fun is it if Hans is a dweeb that McClane throws off the building in the first ten minutes of "Die Hard?"
Today the folks at PC continue their debate on a constitutional amendment banning flag burning. Carmen says it's "disgusting," and Winslow counters that brussels sprouts are disgusting too, but you don't see us needing an amendment to stop burning them.
What was that? Was it Scott Stantis actually making a good point - and having Winslow do it? Ladies and gentlemen, Winslow may finally be achieving Hans Guber status in Prickly City. Who will stop him? Who can stop a liberal making coherent points? My lord, he even allows the coyote to point out that we haven't seen a flag burn in the States in ages!
Now I realize that at the end of the week Winslow will look the fool after being painted a Communist/Socialist/Terrorist/Anti-American-ist by neo-con Carmen. But we expect that out of Prickly City. What we don't expect is that the other side's points are actually made in a coherent manner, and it's about damn time.
But I'm left wondering: can brussels sprouts even burn?
